The Smile Squad Mobile Dental Clinic program provides much needed on-site treatment of children in eight school districts in the metro area. Last year over 800 students received dental care on the mobile at their schools and another 6,000 students received screenings. We donated over $200,000 in free care to needy students.
Our two mobile dental units are 15 and 20 years old and are becoming cost prohibitive to operate. In fact, only one unit can be in use at a time so we can bring in the other as a back up in case of breakdown.
A new mobile dental unit will allow us to run two units simultaneously and increase our impact beyond the Greater Des Moines area!
